The investigation of complexes in the solid state has developed exponentially over the past few decades in terms of both crystal engineering and supramolecular chemistry. The preparation of new metal-organic frameworks and coordination polymers has been of particular interest due to the large variety of structural topologies as well as the varying functionalities they offer. A study of the preparation of new metal-organic frameworks from common starting materials was undertaken to increase the understanding of the preparative methods for these compounds.en_ZA
