dc.description.abstractDirectly underlying the ore bodies are zones of stockwork alteration as well as extensive brecciation. The aim of this thesis is to determine the cause of brecciation and its relationship to the ore body and mineralization. Methods of identification include field observations, transmitted and reflected light microscopy, staining and quantitative electron-microprobe analyses, carbonate isotope determination and an extensive literature survey.en_ZA
