dc.description.abstractThe basic theory of observations of galaxies in a cosmological context is reviewed and extended to include e.g. the pointspread effect of the atmosphere. From this the relation between the sources (objects) and the images of these sources is derived (the observational map). A program is developed to calculate this map and some results are given.
