dc.description.abstractCobalt based catalysts are generally used for the FT synthesis due to their high activity and selectivity for linear hydrocarbons, low activity for the water gas shift reaction and lower price compared to noble metals [22]. There can, however, be a large effective loss of active metal due to strong metal-support interaction forming complexes that are not reduced at temperatures below 400°C.en_ZA
