Abstract
Pyronaridine (PND), a hydroxyanilino-benzonaphthyridine derivative and also a structural analogue of chloroquine, was synthesized in China in the 1970s as a result of a search for alternative drugs to treat chloroquine-resistant (CQR) Plasmodium falciparum malaria.
