dc.description.abstractThere has been considerable liberalisation of the South African economy since the early 1980s. During the 1990s, the liberalisation process coincided with rising skill and capital-intensity of production and substantial declines in the employment of less-skilled labour. This theris draws upon a variety of empirical and theoretical methodologies to investigate the contributory impacts of trade liberalisation and technological change to the changing skill structure of employment in South Africa since the early 1980s.en_ZA
