| dc.description.abstract | The aim of this research is to investigate the relationship between union commitment and union participation. The research was conducted in the electrical engineering industry in the Western Cape. The respondents (N = 131) were all employees of electrical engineering companies in the Western Cape. From a sample of 65.5 per cent, 41.9 per cent of the respondents were female and 58, 01 per cent was male. Results indicated that union commitment is the main predictor of union participation and perceived union instrumentality is a significant predictor of union commitment. Affective organizational commitment and affective union commitment correlated moderately with each other. Results also indicated that there are no significant differences between union participation levels of male and female union members. | en_ZA |
