Abstract
While dental extraction should ideally be done by trained dental surgeons, head and neck surgeons often extract teeth in the operating room in patients when under-going ablative cancer surgery. This is particularly true in resource constrained settings. This chapter is a practical guide on how to perform dental extractions and to deal with common complications. As head and neck surgeons generally extract teeth in anaesthetised patients undergoing head and neck cancer surgery, local anaesthesia techniques are not discussed.
