Abstract
Analyses of FIMS data are updated to include data for the 2013/14 season. Results show a drop in the last season’s index for the FIMS relative abundance indices in the Cape Point and Saldanha Bay Zones and an increase for those of Dassen Island and Lambert’s Bay. There is a large decrease for Cape Point from the previous season, although that estimate had a large standard error, and the present estimate is still slightly higher than estimates since 1999. Dassen Island shows a significant increase in the last season’s index compared to the previous season and is larger than the estimates for the last four years. Although the index for Lambert’s Bay is higher than those since 1997, there is a very large standard error associated with this estimate. The percentage of females in the last season has increased in Saldanha Bay and decreased in Dassen Island, and is slightly down for Cape Point and Lambert’s Bay.
