dc.description.abstractAn updated extract of the yellow book ACCESS database was made available on 20 January 2010. This database contains catch and effort information related to the vessels operating in the South African jig fishery for the years 2006 (partial data), 2007, 2008 and 2009 (currently still being captured). This paper presents basic statistics related to the 2007 and 2008 yellow book data and reports results from the application of General Linear Models (GLM) to a subset of vessels in order to derive a standardized commercial index of abundance for this resource.en_ZA
