dc.description.abstractThis study examines the role of language proficiency in the performance of university students within the specialised field of IS, with particular focus on second language speakers. Quantitative analysis is used to investigate the association between academic performance and matriculation results (particularly English), as well as a number of demographic factors, based on a cohort of 241 undergraduate students following an IS major curriculum at the University of Cape Town over a four year period.en_ZA
