In an attempt to facilitate the recovery of th eplayers, the support staff associated with teams have used a variety of techniques with the goal of ensuring that the muscles of players have the best opportunity to repair before the next training session/match. Several different strategies are used by support staff. These include cryotherapy, contraxt baths, nutrional intervention, compression garments, massage, active recovery and non-steroidal anti-inflammatories. Ice/cold water immersion is a relatively new and popular recovery strategy derived from cryotherapy.en_ZA
