There have been several attempts to find a suitable set of model parameters for stirred tank reactors. In view of this, the present study investigated the performance of the standard k - ε model to predict the flow field in stirred tank reactors. The parametric analysis presented herein involves variation of the parameters in the model and an estimation of the overall error values between experimental data and the model predictions, which includes the mean velocities and the turbulent kinetic energy. The analysis also involves ascertaining the stability of the model via the moment convergence approach.en_ZA
