The world’s per capita fish consumption has doubled in the last few decades, yet wild capture fishery landings have peaked with limitations for further expansion (FAO, 2014). Despite national and regional successes in fisheries management and governance, 30%of global fish stocks remain overexploited (FAO, 2014). To maintain wild fish supplies to support a growing population, both governments and intergovernmental management organizations are faced with the challenge of rebuilding depleted fish stocks and maintaining healthy stocks at or above optimal sustainable levels.en_ZA
