| dc.description.abstract | In this essay, I examine the readiness of investment professionals at a leading South African asset manager, to employ effective impact evaluation methods, with a focus on the integration of blockchain technology. In it, I delve into the current state of impact investing in South Africa, highlighting the challenges and opportunities encountered by fund managers in evaluating the social and environmental impacts of their investments. Through qualitative research, including interviews with investment professionals, the study explores the use of the theory of change (TOC) and blockchain technology as tools to enhance impact evaluation practices. The findings reveal a nuanced understanding of impact evaluation among investment professionals and assess their openness to adopting blockchain for accurate and efficient impact evaluation. My results contribute to the discourse on impact investing by providing insights into the practical applications of blockchain in impact evaluation and suggesting pathways for the evolution of impact assessment methodologies in emerging market. | |
