This study set out to explore the effects of learning on a trade union organisation. The emphasis on learning in the South African trade union movement is often whether it results in building and strengthening union organisation. The trade union jargon used to describe this phenomenon is 'plough back'. The question that led to this research was whether the concept of 'plough back' was practically implemented in the case of a university course commissioned by the National Education Health and Allied Workers Union (NEHAWU).en_ZA
