Transparency of mitigation actions is an important element of the climate change regime, as negotiated under the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). The focus of this report is to provide a concise description of the outcomes of the negotiations on transparency under the UNFCCC and their implications for South Africa. The first section of the report outlines the Cancun, or transparency, package for developing countries, the next identifies implications for South Africa, and the third section contains an assessment of South Africa’s preparedness (the latter provided by the Department of Environmental Affairs).en_ZA
