dc.description.abstractProstate cancer is the most common male malignancy amongst black males in South Africa and the second commonest amongst white males (1,2). Prostate biopsy, via the rectum, is an essential part of diagnosing and treating this disease. Traditionally needle biopsies of the prostate were performed blindly by digital palpation of the gland per rectum.en_ZA
