| dc.description.abstract | A double Gaussian form is fit to annual moult count observations for both adult and juvenile penguins at Robben and Dassen Islands. While giving similar results for total moult numbers to the conventional linear interpolation approach in most cases, this new approach seems preferable for seasons where there are lengthly gaps between successive observations, and is accordingly proposed as a preferred approach. The approach is also used to provide coarse estimates of the precision of estimates of total moult numbers. | en_ZA |
