dc.description.abstract | The main focus of my thesis is the role and the faults of the welfare system in promoting public policies for the overall wellbeing of refugees in a South African global perspective; as indicator of such a system a study of the Health Sector has been carried out. The thesis takes into account the main sociological streams developed in migration studies (Karl Marx, Max Weber, Emile Durkheim, Georg Simmel, Robert Ezra Park) and it is focused on the analysis of the more recent pattern of multiculturalism and citizenship (Loren Landau, Alessandro Dal Lago, Francesco Remotti, Jonathan Crush, Francis B. Nyamnjoh, Jeremy Waldron, Etienne Balibar, Catherine Cross); the latter used as unit of analysis to understand the perverse mechanism of inclusion/exclusion from basic necessities, such as healthcare, for citizens and non-citizens. | en_ZA |
