Developing countries constitute the majority of the world’s landmass and are home to more than 50% of its people. Cancer poses a major public health crisis in the developing world. Developing countries accounted for >50% of newly diagnosed cancers in 2010; it is projected that this figure will increase to 70% by 2030. This increasing percentage is attrib-uted to population growth, reduced mortality from infectious diseases and an ageing society.
