dc.description.abstractThis study explored the factors that hindered the women of the Outlook Parent Support Group from achieving their stated goals. The literature review discusses the relationship between poverty and disability and its impact on the identity and occupations of carers of disabled children. Furthermore it explores self-help and support groups as tools for selfempowerment as well as the role of professionals within these groups.en_ZA
