    Forms of cohesion : the development of style in the novels of Virginia Woolf

    This thesis, in exploring the changing forms of cohesion in the novels of Virginia Woolf, will use the distinction between the metaphoric and metonymic modes as the basis of its argument. The study will be divided into 5 parts: the development of style and change; in the form of cohesion; textual cohesion; structural cohesion; discourse as a cohesive element in the novel; and thematic cohesion.
