| dc.description.abstract | In this radio broadcast, Kevin Winters speaks about the Peninsula Paddle and how the event generates interest for the preservation and conservation of waterways and rivers. Urban rivers are at risk from pollution and eutrophication due to waste run off, but river clean-up projects can provide employment as well as beautification and urban renewal. The socio-politics of conservation of waterways is highlighted as one of the more important and difficult parts of conservation. This resource is valuable for members of the public interested in getting involved in local community ecological preservation initiatives. | en_ZA |
