The assessments of December 2004 are updated in three respects: commercial catch-at-age data which cannot be species-disaggregated directly are taken into account in the fitting process, a new basis to split pre-1978 catches by species is introduced, and a new method is used to fit to pre-1978 CPUE series for the two species combined. The low estimated status of the M. paradoxus resource remains unchanged but a better status is estimated for M. capensis.en_ZA
