Abstract
The video discusses the ensuring of fairness when it comes to organ allocation. The video discusses how the deceased donation is a gift to society and the importance fair consideration of the candidates circumstances and medical needs when allocating. It offers examples that illustrates the complexity in deciding who receives the donated organ. The video discusses the limitations of organ transplants in terms of size discrepancies and blood types. The use of HLA matching is also discussed. The video also discusses the Model for End-Stage Liver Disease (MELD) score. The video then discusses the complication and differences in allocation systems amongst countries. This is video 7/7 in week 3 of the Organ Donation course.
