dc.description Reports on Colloquium Session: p.236
dc.description.abstract The topic for this session has been a strong focus of the UCT Historical Studies Department over the past two decades, and one which is currently taking important new directions. Not least among these is the locating of the history of unfree labour in the Western Cape within the orbit of the Indian Ocean. This was marked by the presence of Dr Vijaya Teelock, a leading historian of slavery and indentured labour in Mauritius, who gave the opening address. en_ZA
