Abstract
In this descriptive study, an attempt was made to make intelligible the schizophrenia of four Coloured male schizophrenics by analysing their social-familial background in terms of Laing's concepts of invalidation and mystification. Data was obtained from structured and unstructured interviews with father, mother and son in each family. Kelly's repertory grid was the main structured technique used.
