- ItemOpen AccessSoftware control for an airborne real-time data acquisition and recording system(1987) Constantinides, Nicholas; Reineck, K MA real-time microprocessor based airborne data acquisition system is described with emphasis on the real-time control software. The system is being currently used by a wide number of airlines in their jetliners for monitoring aircraft performance during flight and recording such data on what is commonly known as the "black box" recorder. The system was primarily developed for use in the new generation of airliners by Boeing Aircraft Company, namely the Boeing 767 and the Boeing 757. At the time of writing this report however, its use has extended to some European aircraft manufacturers, namely Airbus Industries and Fokker. The entire project was a team effort, especially in the design of the hardware. The author's part in this project was the complete design, development and implementation of the real-time control software, including some involvement at a systems level in the hardware design.
- ItemOpen AccessStudy and implementation of load monitoring on an 11 kV underground cable distribution network(1987) Hampton, Brent Gary; Reineck, K MOperating and Planning staff of an electricitY supply utility have expressed the opinion that a load monitoring system needed to be installed at protected substations forming part of an 11 kV underground cable reticulation network. Load information was currently only available from feeders connected to the 132/11 kV stepdown substations which provide infeeds to the system. The staff felt that the availability of feeder load information from the protected substation level of the 11 kV ring network would assist in more efficient system planning and more accurate system operation. This request for additional load data constituted the main motivation for the project described in this report. The two main objectives of the project can thus be stated as follows: (i) To prove conclusively that there were benefits to be derived from implementing load monitoring at protected susbstations on the 11 kV reticulation network. (ii) To implement a suitable load monitoring system if the study resulting from (i) proved this was necessary.
- ItemOpen AccessSwitched capacitor networks : a novel prewarping procedure(1985) Campbell, Charles Robert Weston; Reineck, K MNovel methods for prewarping filter specifications prior to realization. in Switched Capacitor (SC) form are presented. These allow the design of arbitrary response requirements, exhibiting a low amount of error that normally results from the frequency warping associated with sampled-data networks. Adjustment is applied to the pole and zero locations of a reference filter, using three distinct approaches (Center frequency "CF", Selectivity "S" and Complex Mapping "CM" pole/zero prewarping), developed for both the Lossless Discrete Integrator (LOI) and Bilinear (Bil) analog to digital transformations. The derivation of the prewarping expressions is explained with reference to these mappings, and the effect they have on the apparent pole and zero locations of an SC filter realization.
