Abstract
The magnitude and transient nature of the gas temperature in the cylinder of an internal combustion engine makes the measurement quite difficult. Several techniques have been employed to try and determine the actual gas temperatures in internal combustion engines, and most of these have either shown inconsistency or turned out to be extremely expensive. In this thesis, the use of a thermocouple to determine the gas temperature was explored.
